Getting started with SeqLab services

SeqLab provides DNA sequencing services for researchers in National Public Health Institute, Molecular Medicine research program and Folkhälsan Research Centre in Biomedicum Helsinki. In addition to DNA sequencing small to medium scale fragment analysis service is also available.

1. Contact SeqLab

• Contact laboratory manager Pekka Ellonen when you plan to start using our services (Tel. 4744 8752, Pekka.ellonen(at)ktl.fi, room B318a).

• Please send a confirmed invoicing address for your sequencings / fragment analysis. Current price list is available from SeqLab staff.

• Join the SeqLab mailing list - fast information channel for SeqLab news. E-mail to pekka.ellonen(at)ktl.fi

2. Register: Get a GIU account

You need a GIU account to work with SeqLab. Genome Informatics Unit provides high-performance computer servers and bioinformatics applications. GIU-account is a personal, free of charge user account for Genome Informatics Unit servers.

SeqLab stores all sequencing and fragment analysis results to GIU Servers. Therefore SeqLab customers are obliged to get their personal GIU-accounts for accessing the results. Your personal GIU-account’s number is also your customer number in SeqLab.

3. Setup Remote Desktop Connection to GIU Desktop

To access the sequencing or fragment analysis results:

• Follow GIU instructions how to setup connection

• Start SequencingBrowser from GIU desktop

4. Proceed to Services or Workflow section.
